This is perfect for kids and adults who want to test the ice before committing to lessons. Our professional instructors will be on hand to guide you through the basics in a safe and welcoming environment. Skates are provided—just bring warm clothes, a sense of adventure, and get ready to fall in love with skating!

Learn To Skate Program

Our Learn to Skate USA program is a fun and rewarding introduction to ice skating. Skaters of all ages and abilities will learn the fundamentals necessary to advance into recreational or competitive figure skating and hockey.We offer two program levels:

  • Bronze Level: 30-minute class
  • Silver Level: 1-hour class (for skaters who progress from Bronze)

Skaters are evaluated and advanced based on skills and goals, with guidance from our director and coaching staff.

Before enrolling, please register with Learn to Skate USA. All participants must hold a current Learn to Skate USA membership. No exceptions.

Class Information

  • Each class level requires a minimum of 5 participants. Classes may be combined if needed.
  • Sessions run 6–8 weeks, depending on the calendar (excluding holidays/closures). Pricing reflects the number of weeks.
  • Each class includes 30 minutes of group instruction plus free admission to a public skating session afterward.
  • Free skate rentals are provided to participants during class.
  • Dress in layers and wear gloves. Helmets are required for all LTS skaters (bicycle helmets are acceptable).
Class Types & Age Groups

Snowplow Sam (Levels 1–4): Ages 3–5

Focuses on coordination, balance, and strength. Helmets strongly recommended.

Basic Skills (Levels 1–6): Ages 4–17

Levels 1–2 are introductory; Levels 3–6 focus on Agility, Balance, Coordination, and Speed (ABCS).

Adult Classes (Levels 1–6): Ages 18+

For both beginners and returning skaters. Levels 4–6 now part of our Aspire Program.

Hockey Skating (Levels 1–4): Ages 4–17

This class introduces the fundamentals of hockey skating, following the guidelines recommended by Learn to Skate USA. While helmets are required, we also recommend that children wear gloves and shin guards, as they will be learning how to fall safely and slide on the ice. Hockey skates are provided by the Community Rink for use during class sessions. Skates must be returned after each use and can be checked out again for future classes. This system helps ensure skate availability for all participants during our skating sessions.

Class Schedule

Mondays

  • 5:00 PM: All Levels (Snowplow Sam 1–4, Basic 1–6, Adult 1–6, Hockey 1–4)
  • 5:30 PM: Snowplow Sam 1–4, Basic 1–2 only

Thursdays

  • 5:00–6:00 PM: Advanced only (Basic 4–6, Adult 4–6, Hockey 3–4, Hockey-Power Skate)

Saturdays

  • 10:45 AM: All Levels (Snowplow Sam 1–4, Basic 1–6, Adult 1–6, Hockey 1–4)
  • 11:15 AM: Snowplow Sam 1–4, Basic 1–2 only

Important Policies

  • A $10 late fee will apply if registration is not completed prior to the first day of class.
  • No make-up classes or refunds.
  • Class availability is based on registration volume.
